Artists at the Studio
I have been a photographer for the last 10 years. I started taking photo's of everything that caught my eye mainly, landscapes and objects. I quickly turned to portrait photography and found this is what I was meant to be doing. Today I photograph people of all ages in my home studio or out on location. My style is timeless to fine art.
Marijke Groothuis was born in the Netherlands and emigrated to Australia in 1974. Her love affair with computers began in 1977 when she became one of only a handful of female computer programmers. Photography had been a passion since childhood, and when digital cameras became affordable, she finally found a medium in which she could express herself artistically.
I am a self taught artist starting in pencil and charcoal and moving on to be proficient in soft pastel, oil paints and colour pencil. I have also attended numerous workshops especially with Robyn Kittelty Redman where I learned of colour mixing, composition and other techniques.
